Cutting edge research is taking place across the disciplines

CRAM

Within CRAM, leading academic, institutional and industrial organisations will pool their resources in order to overcome fragmentation of research and provide the necessary environment for the successful development of indwelling medical devices, as well as research in the field of respiratory and invasive medicine.

Combining the expertise of biomedical engineers, surface engineers, polymer chemists and material scientists with microbiologists and medical specialists will also give the ideal setting to overcome the different communication barriers that exists between the disciplines today.

Aim

To use our vast expertise for indwelling medical device development as well as research in the field of respiratory and invasive medicine.

Team Structure

CRAM will be structured in a way that permits effective collaboration, joint decision-making and collective responsibility.

Impact

It is believed that CRAM will make an impact on many different levels. Firstly, it has the potential to give Scandinavian industry a world-leading position in the design, development and production of antimicrobial materials for different applications in the hospital and healthcare environments, as well as in laboratory and home applications. Secondly, several of the most prominent researchers in the country have agreed to combine their forces in order to achieve a leading position in the areas of materials engineering and respiratory medicine.

Education

Educational and training activities are planned within the centre to promote the exchange of knowledge on all levels. Student exchange programmes will also be initiated.

Industrial Partners

One of the key issues of CRAM is to attract industrial partners that will play an active role in the Centre. A close cooperation between academic, clinical, institutional and industry partners is believed to encourage the transformation of the industry towards the manufacturing of knowledge-based products.
